The Laurell K. Hamilton Sanctuary is dedicated to Laurell's dear companion
In Loving Memory of Jimmy

Laurell K. Hamilton Sanctuary
Laurell K. Hamilton is a gifted NY Times Best Selling Author....www.laurellkhamilton.org
She is also a very generous, kind, compassionate pug owner. She has been our biggest supporter and without her generosity we would not have been able to help many of the pugs that had serious medical issues the past few years. So in honor of our friend we set up a sanctuary for the elderly, handicapped, sick and special needs pugs. We house them and love them in our hospice/foster homes and we take donations and have fundraisers to help pay for their medical bills. That is how is works.
Laurell K. Hamilton Sanctuary Residents....
The following pugs we deemed due to age or medical reasons necessary to stay with our loving rescue/foster homes here where we have the specialty vet clinic and the 24 hour clinic and lots of nursing experience and most importantly LOTS of love.....We love and care for them but we ask for a little help with their increasingly high medical costs. We have one fund for the the hospice dogs so it will go to whichever dogs needs it at the time...therefore if you want to be a special friend to a special pug...you will be a special friend to all of our special pugs!
Grandpa.....came
to us from a shelter in Missouri. He is a tiny little old guy.
He is blind and has the beginning of kidney failure but is doing much better
than when we first got him. We think we will have a couple of good
years with him. He is quite a character and quite a brave little
thing. Just as precious as they come.
Grandpa is a Hospice Pug living with the
Schisky family in St. Louis and is being
sponsored by

`
Mac is a wonderful very sweet boy that came to us from the KCMO shelter. He has a spinal disorder that makes it hard for him to walk. He can walk but will eventually need a wheelcart. He is such a good boy and deserves love and kindness after being dumped by his family in the shelter. He needs to be neutered and have a dental. We would also like him to get accunpunture to help him. Please consider sponsoring this wonderful boy.
MAC
Humperdink
aka "Humpy" named after prince Humperdink from the Princess Bride.
The old fella also came from the KCMO shelter.
He is totally blind and totally deaf. He
had pneumonia when we got him and almost died. He is now mostly
healthy but needs a dental badly. He would love a sponsor for his
dental which will run about $150-200.
Ziggy
is an adorable young (1-2 years old) brindle pug or bug. He seems to
be mostly housebroken. He came from the shelter so we do not have a
history on him but he has been completely vetted and is ready for a new
home. He is very active and needs ample exercise. He needs
another young active small dog playmate. He is very sweet and give
wonderful kisses.
*****ZIGGY NEEDS A HOSPICE HOME***
He gets bladder stones and needs to be watched but otherwise healthy and sweet.
Lucy

is a 15 year old lady thats owner could not take care of her. She has some eye
issues an arthritis right now but her new mommy and daddy are taking good care
of her and trying to make her last years wonderful. Thank you Richard and

Grandpa - Grandpa went to heaven February 2008 3 months shy of his 19th birthay....we miss you so much and always will, you were one in a zillion...we love you forever
Our very precious 18 year old boy. Grandpa has diabetes requiring shots of insulin twice a day and had an eye removed recently due to glaucoma. He is the most amazing little creature. He never complains and always wags his tail when he hears your voice or feels your touch. We are hoping Grandpa will love FOREVER!
Jeff - Jeff went to meet Grandpa a month later shy of his 18th birthday, Jeff was the easiest pug in the world and we sure miss him trying to keep up with the others, there will never be another Jeff....we love you forever Jeff

Jeff is another amazing creature at 17 years of age who has survived being lost on his own for 2 weeks and then recently severe trauma and blood transfusion but he made a miraculous recovery and we pray he will live as long as Grandpa.
Gina.....our precious Gina Beana is now in heaven with many friends...we miss you baby girl

Gina Bean we think is the original first pug! She is 16.5 and just a tiny thing. She eats, poops, walks around the yard and sleeps. she is blind and deaf but still manages to give us kisses and we hope she kisses us forever.
Barbie

Barbie is a sweety pie of a younger 2-3 year old pug with Liver Shunt. She is being treated by special foods and meds and doing great but the food and meds run around $100/month so she is an expensive but worth it little love pug.
Momo - 1/2010...my precious Momee went to heaven. He was 12 he lived much longer than we ever thought with his disability and health problems I would take him back again today and do it all over for my boy

Momo came to us mostly paralyzed in the hind quarters. He has been seen by a neurologist and the injury is too old to correct surgically so Momo has done some accupuncture which has helped. We also got him a specially made cart. He is now going to start Hydro therapy which we hope and pray it will help him to walk again...he is only 7 and deserves a much better life. Thanks to our friends at Milwaukee Pugfest who are donating $250 to start his therapy. His sessions are $75/session. We know he will need several then we are hoping to be able to do alot of it ourselves at home.
Buster... Buster is now in heaven with the others

Buster is a 7 year old funny pug. He does have diabetes and like Grandpa is on insulin twice a day and frequent visits to the vet for blookwork. At this time his diabetes in under control but because of the diabetes he gets sick very easy and gets infections that are hard to get rid of so we monitor him closely
Louie has been adopted!!!
Louie just came to us from a breeder. His needs are more emotionally than physical right now. I am not sure if I will ever feel comfortable adopting him out as he has lived his first 5 years in total fear of stangers after abuse from a bad person (puppymiller)....Louie has had all of his vet work done and had 17 rotten teeth pulled. He also needs to have his eyes fixed from etropian from neglect and special drops forever.
Maggie
Maggie Moo went to heaven 7/2009 at 15 years. I love you baby girl you will always be my special girl.
...Maggie is a 13 year old doll. Her owner
became homeless and turned her into the shelter. Maggie is elderly but does
very well. She needs drops for her eyes and special food. She follows her mom
everywhere and will be loved for her remaining years here with us.

Cyndi has been adopted

Cyndi is a blind little gal we got at the shelter. She has obviously been breeding all of her life. Her teath were so infected her jaw had broken. We have fixed her up and will love her and let her enjoy retirement.
Alvie - Our most precious Alvie got adopted by a wonderful lady that just had to have him. He went to heaven a few months later but he gave his new mom and all of us the blessings of having him in our lives and I can honestly say he was one wonderful little old man that non of us will ever forget or ever stop loving....here's to you Alvie we hope you have your own bed in heaven but we miss you here...we love you
T
his is our friend Alvie he is awesome. His owner died too. He is about 13 years old and has a cataract in one eye. He had a really bad tooth infection but he is getting a dental this week and will be as good as new in no time. He is funny because he talks when he is ready for his dinner. He must have been spoiled in his previous home too.
Maxine
Maxine is a 7 year old retired puppymill girl. She is blind in one eye and has permaent partial paralysis from an old injury. She gets around very well for being handiapped but will probably eventually need a cart.
