TRIBUTE TO ALL THE PUGS THAT HAVE CHANGED OUR LIVES AND THE PEOPLE THAT MADE IT POSSIBLE
URGENT!! WE ARE NOT ABLE TO TAKE ANYMORE DOGS AT THIS TIME
WE ARE OUT OF ROOM AND FUNDS
June 1, 2009 WE REALLY REALLY NEED HELP IN MO&KS
AGAIN WE FACE ANOTHER URGENT CRISIS. THE BREEDERS ARE CONTINUING TO DUMP AND GET RID OF THEIR DOGS DUE TO THE ECONOMY. ALTHOUGH THIS IS ULTIMATELY A GREAT THING THAT THEY ARE GOING OUT OF BUSINESS AND THESE PRECIOUS DOGS ARE GETTING THE LIFE THEY DESERVE THEY ARE COMING IN IN LARGE NUMBERS. WE ARE DUE TO GET 6 THIS WEEK PLUS WE HAVE 4 OWNER SURRENDERS AND ONE STRAY NEEDING RESCUED. THIS IS STARTING TO BECOME NORMAL AS WE ARE GETTING 2-8 PUGS A WEEK. NONE OF THESE DOGS HAVE ANY VET WORK AND WILL NEED ALL VET WORK. WE ARE TRYING TO BE THERE FOR THE PUGS IN KANSAS AND MISSOURI AS WE AND ILMO PUG RESCUE ARE THEIR ONLY HOPE AS WE LOST PRAIRIE PUGS LAST FALL DUE TO LACK OF HELP AND FUNDS. WE ARE SMALL GROUPS WITH FEW VOLUNTEERS AND LITTLE TO NO FUNDRAISING AS I JUST CANNOT GET HELP WITH FUNDRAISING BUT I WILL KEEP BEGGING. I KNOW ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE EFFECTED BY THE ECONOMY AS BELIEVE ME NON PROFIT GROUPS HAVE BEEN. PLEASE CONSIDER ADOPTING A PUG OR EVEN HOSPICING ONE OF THE SEVERAL WONDERFUL SENIORS WE HAVE.
WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE SPONSORS FOR THE DOGS CURRENTLY IN RESCUE AND FOR THE ONES NEEDING TO COME IN. WE WERE ALSO TO HAVE A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FUNDS COMING TO THE ORPHANS THAT WAS LEFT BY ONE OF OUR MEMBERS BUT DUE TO A GLITCH OF A DOCUMENT NOT BEING SIGNED CORRECTLY THE FUNDS WERE SENT TO THE FAMILY AND THE FAMILY HAS OPTED TO KEEP THEM AND NOT SHARE ANY WITH THE ORPHANS. SO WE ARE STILL IN THE RED AND HAVE TO PAY THE VETS UPFRONT. WE MUST HAVE FUNDRAISERS. PLEASE CONSIDER HELPING WITH FUNDRAISING, FOSTERING, SPONSORING AND ADOPTING. WE ARE SQUEEKING BY MONTH TO MONTH AND ARE MORE DESPERATE THAN EVER.
INCOMING 6/1/09....
6/13/09....WE HAVE 5 MORE COMING THAT ARE NOT EVEN LISTED HERE!!

rescued from the Springfield shelter
Leo
is an 8-9y/o vision-impaired male pug with multiple nasty-looking skin
tags and tumors. Leo is such a sweet older fellow, we really want to
have them all removed and biopsied. But we're looking at a very hefty
bill to take care of this. Like all mill survivors, Leo's dental
condition is deplorable, too. Leo will be a very difficult placement,
but we want him to have a chance at pethood one day.
Buddy
Boy is a 2y/o blind fawn pug who was dumped in a rural shelter. A woman
looking for her own missing pug saw him and called us. Buddy Boy is as
sweet as the day is long. He hasn't a mean or angry bone in his entire
body. Buddy Boy loves attention and is doing well at housetraining, too.
He adores other dogs, and follows voices amazingly well, leading us to
believe he has been blind since birth or shortly thereafter.Linus is an
8y/o puppymill survivor with a deep fear of humans
Linus
came in with numerous growths that will need to be surgically removed,
systemic infection from rotten teeth, and an eye injury. Linus is
breaking our hearts - he runs whenever we come near him. Linus will need
a lot of help, both medically and emotionally
Rocky
is an 8y/o puppymill survivor with terrible teeth and little eyesight
remaining. Rocky is a prisoner of human greed in the worst way. He has
been used for breeding all his life, and that's all he knows. Once Rocky
has his dental and neuter done, and the hormones have left the building,
we'll be working to teach him about pethood and the proper way to relate
to other pugs. A sponsor would help us get on the stick with Rocky's
rehabilitation
We
cannot imagine what Penny's life must have been like. She is terrified
of everything - us, the other dogs at the rescue house...there's no
place Penny is comfortable. Penny hugs the floor most of the time.
Penny is only about 2y/o. She was picked up from a rural shelter, we
have no history on her at all. Penny sometimes tries to bite when she is
especially frightened. Working with fear-biters is always a longterm
endeavor, but we think have a pretty good chance of reaching Penny.
Penny needs a cherry eye repair and a spay. Then begins the long journey
that, we hope, will end in a happy home. We'd like someone to sponsor
her veterinary care so we can proceed with the emotional repair.
What we need to continue.
1. FOSTER HOMES: 6-10 more foster homes anywhere in Kansas or Missouri. Foster homes just love and care for the pug until a permanent home comes along, the rescue pays medical bills
2. Fundraising Committee with several members to get fund raisers established to help pay for the overwhelming vet bills. WE have to have more fundraising, you don't have to live in KS or MO to help with fundraising, we need online fundraisers, pug party fundraisers or just any fundraisers selling candles, etc.
3. Transport committee, 75% of our dogs are adopted out of the metro KC area mostly, Omaha, Des Moines, Chicago, Illniois areas
Please contact me if you can help the pugs with any of the 3 needs above. luvforpugs@aol.com

In Loving Memory of Jimmy

This site is dedicated to my best friend of almost 15 years. He is the one who taught me the kind, loving, giving, special soul of a pug and made me realize that no pug should ever be homeless that all pugs and all dogs should be loved and respected just as they love and respect us. If only all humans had the love and compassion as a pug....JB was a human in a pug suit trying to make the world a better place and he succeeded. So many people and dogs alike were blessed to know this special creature from above. JB, if loved could have saved you, you would have lived forever......and you do live forever in my heart and soul....I can't wait to see you again my precious precious boy.
